Description

Brainstorm about writing goals and challenges, participate in fresh writing exercises and experiments, share your work and receive generous, clear-eyed feedback. We'll discuss ideas about writing from writers such as Barbara Kingsolver and George Saunders, and use a variety of tools as a springboard to experiment, play and create in our own writing. This workshop is aimed at all writers, writing at any level, willing to commit to serious, supportive, critical discussion about how we write.

About the workshop leader:

lisaLisa Pasold grew up in Montreal, which gave her the necessary jaywalking skills to survive as a writer. As a travel journalist, Lisa has been thrown off a train in Belarus, been fed the world’s best pigeon pie in Marrakech, mushed huskies in the Yukon, and rats_lpasoldbeen cheated in the Venetian gambling halls of Ca’ Vendramin Calergi. Her novel, Rats of Las Vegas appeared in 2009; her new book, any bright horse, comes out this April. Her two previous books of poetry, Weave and A Bad Year for Journalists, were both nominated for Alberta Book Awards. Lisa’s writing appears in several anthologies, most recently Strangers in Paris (Tightrope, 2011). She has taught Creative Writing at the American University in Paris and leads weekend workshops from her home in the 18th arrondissement. www.lisapasold.com
